Action to Collect Signatures for Container Deposit Legislation on  Clean Up Australia Day 4 March 2012

 

The Lane Cove Sustainability Group and supporters were collecting signatures on Petitions to Ban Plastic Bags and to introduce a Container Deposit Scheme (CDS) in NSW (ie 10cent refund). This event was timed to coincide with Clean Up Australia Day to highlight the glaringly obvious fact that a large proportion of the litter collected at Clean UP sights around the country (excluding South Australia, where a CDS & a Plastic Bag Ban is in place) are containers and plastic bags. On the day we collected approximately 400 signatures per petition, so thank you to those whom signed.

Three locations were set up around LaneCove shops. Outside Coles, Woolworths and in the Plaza.
